Biggest savings are on electronics.... Four years ago, a 50inch Panasonic Viera LCD TV went for $3500, now you can get a 70 inch version for $1200!!!!
But this does not apply too collectibles. A Polish 100 ducat gold coin(Sigismund III) sold for 900,000US in 1997 auction, same coin sold for over $1,750,000 in 2008, probably worth over 2 million today. Same for rare stamps, insects, paintings....

John,
I would say, but I can be wrong, that rare insect prices are declining. This is mostly due to internet which enables local suppliers to sell directly to Western or Japanese collectors.

John, I would say, but I can be wrong, that rare insect prices are declining. This is mostly due to internet which enables local suppliers to sell directly to Western or Japanese collectors. Olivier I think this is largely true, especially in countries where there are a lot of local suppliers such as Peru and China, but the opposite can be true in countries where it's very difficult to collect, such as Brazil. We all know the quandry we have when a species or subspecies becomes available for the first time (either ever or for many years). If you buy it for a high price, a year later there will be hundreds selling for a fraction of the price; if you wait for the price to come down you'll never see it again. Bob
