Anyone know what this is? It's from Mt. Isarog, Philippines, May - wingspan 52mm. My only guess for family is some weird type of Noctuidae I'm not familiar with... but it's thrown me for a loop. Sorry for the bad photo, but I'll post a good one once it comes off the boards in a few weeks. The wings are almost black with a light tint of blue on the margins of the hindwing.

I have some moths from the Philippines, but I can't see the photograph. Some species spill over from Northern Borneo, so try Moths of Borneo on-line. Jeff Prill

It's a male of Platyja umbrina (Noctuidae ; Catocalinae). Nice aquisition -it's quite rare. Thanos
