Can't say as to species but I would suggest you try looking in Lymantriidae or maybe Limacodidae. Whichever I would handle it with care, those guys can seriously irritate your skin.

Spotted Tiger Moth - Lophocampa maculata?? Where is the photo taken?? The larva certainly resembles that of this very common tiger moth here in Sask., CANADA (...all of Canada).
