Mormo maura from Europe, a Hadeninae and not Catocaline ! ( supposed I do not confuse them now with Apopestes spectrum that I have never seen so far )

Thats right Mormo maura, the Old Lady Moth. Fairly common in the U.K. but not strongly attracted to light. I get the odd specimen in my light trap each year, but sugar/bait works well. Often up to 15 on half a dozen sugar patches at the end of the garden while the light trap is on about 40ft away. I have watched these moths slowly circle my light trap as if investigating it, and then slowly fly away unaffected. I sometimes get a few if i use an actinic/ blacklight trap in the middle of the sugar patches. Cheers AL
