It's a Lethocerus sp. (Heteroptera; Belostomatidae). They are aquatic and predatory and can be seen at night flying at lights near lakes,rivers,etc. They have worldwide distribution and I have cought here in Greece a few giant specimens.

Be careful, they can inflict a fairly painful bite when handled. Down here in the southern US they are commonly called "toe biters"!
