Hello again everyone! Can anyone identify this guy from Argentina? Thanks for any help and I may need some more Saturniidae ID help when I get back from Mexico in July, just a warning in case I flood this board : )
Hi Zak, Brechlin and Meister and others have been describing many new Saturniidae species and it may be one that I have not seen yet. It seems closest to Dirphia ursina to me, but I am not positive of that identification. I have been incorporating into WLSS images and data for many of the new species described in 2010-2011 by Brechlin and Meister, but I do not think they have covered that genus yet, unless it is one of the most recent journals. I do no think cadioui, as the enlarged image seems to show a continuous dentate pm line, which I do not think is present on cadioui. The dentate line is a character of ursina, however.
