Fernando, I am pretty sure you have an undescribed species. It appears most similar to Catacantha genus or even some Hylesia species, but it is not even a close match for anything named in those two genera.

it seems the new described genus Mexicantha (in Neva 32 (3/4), 2012 : 117 by Naumann, Nassig and Nogueira) that contains 2 species - oaxacana (Cerro del Vidrio) (2 males known only) - garciorum (San Jose del Pacifico) (1 female only) by Brechlin and Meister, 2012 the two were described on different sexes As there are only three known specimens of this genus, it seems you caught a real gem !

Thanks, Thierry. Wikispecies lists it as new for Tortricidae Family. Do any of the 2012 authors treat the newly described moths as Saturniidae species?
Familia: Tortricidae Subfamilia: Olethreutinae Tribus: Olethreutini Genus: Mexicantha Species: (2): M. garciorum - M. oaxacana

of course Bill all the names cited are saturniid specialist and the genus/species are correctly included in Bold under Hemileucinae

WOW, I hadn't seen the replies to this thread, I am so sorry. Yes! It is exactly from Cerro del Vidrio. And actually, I caught not one, but TWO of these
