Welcome to the InsectNet.com luxor.
First, I am guessing the ID to the order level because I do not know the location of this guy and these insects are not my forte---if you will. Your including the location with any specimen to ID would be most helpful.
Interestingly, this is an actual 'bug' where as most insects are not really true bugs. Anyway, it is a member of the order Hemiptera and is likely a nymph since I see no wings. It may belong to one of these families--- Miridae, Pentatomidae, or maybe Scutelleridae.
As far as common names go, I'm not sure. Sorry I can't ID it more thoroughly .

Pretty sure this is an adult from the Scutelleridae family. The wings are obscured by the shield-like scutellum. The edge of one wing does appear to be visible on the right side.
