One could perhaps try to identify this insect with, at least, a geographical indication! Asian? American? Siberian? Patagonia? If it's from Europa ( ), looks like : Sesiidae : Paranthreninae : Synanthedon tipuliformis Clerck, 1759 See : ukmoths.org.uk/show.php?id=778If it's from somewhere else ... tell us.

Saskatchewan, Canada. Dead center of North America.
Synanthedon tipuliformis fits as it was found on a black currant!
