I and a fellow arachnologist are doing a wordwide sampling of spider silks. We would like to go to an OLD WORLD tropical country that combines relatively easy/fast arthropod collecting/research permitting, and convenient logistics - for example park(s) with trails over elevation and rainfall gradients.
We are aiming to collect small numbers (<=6) of representative species of as many families/genera as possible that are not found in the New World - ie not too many specific target taxa - most countries would do.
Your quick and dirty best guesses, or best guesses for other listservs or of specific globe trotting collectors (of arthropods of any kind, with recent experience as rules change) who might have ideas are very much appreciated.
I have put the question to obvious arachnologists but they have found it difficult and slow everywhere. Which is probably a good thing overall and part of what one has to accept as part of the business. But since we are flexible it would be convenient if there was a country that was at least quick about it and relaxed about taking away specimens.
Thanks and best wishes,
Mark
