How long can a mantis go without food? I have Eleven 4th and 5rd inster carolina mantises and won't be able to feed them for 5 days will they survive? If I put some extra food in there would they be ok for that long? Or is there some prey that I could put in their cages to allow them to live?

I'd like to know the answer too. I just started with mantids. I have no experience in it.

One thing that I do before I leave a pet mantis is I just put a few day's worth of food in its cage. It might eat all of the food right away, but then it will be full enough to last it until I get back. My experience is almost all with adult Chinese Praying Mantids though, so I don't know if it will apply to Carolina Mantids.

I am not sure, but I have had a European mantis go for 4 days before I fed it. Of course, I hopefully never find out its limit, cause that would imply that it starved to death.  |

They'll be fine just feed them before you go.
As far as how long they can actually go without food, this would depend on many variables.
Including; temperature, how much they ate before the fast, sex, etc...

They all survived while I was gone. Only one of my mantises had a bad molt and now she is all messed up and sadly she is my only adult female chinese mantis I have and the other one molted and turned out to be a male.  |
