Hello, My name is Dorin and I live in Brasov, Romania. Our climate is continental temperate, not far from the 45th parallel. I live in a mountain town (about 600m altitude) I have found this row of what looks like cocoons on one of the books that I had in my library. It was a rather old book. I found them indoors in the month of August. They are about 2 centimeters long and less than 1 centimeter thick. As I moved the book they were still attached to it. One fell on the floor and it smashed like dry dusty pottery revealing a small reddish worm inside, all dried up too (like a shallow shell). I was told by a friend that they had found a similar one in a piece of furniture in their kitchen, not close to books. But only one. They had done no visible damage to the furniture, nor the book. Could you help me identifying it, please? Thank you very much, Sincerely, Dorin Attachments:

Thank you very very much zdenol123. It is certainly Sceliphron curvatum. I had a different photo of the larvae that looks exactly as what I found on your Google images link.
Thanks again,
Have a great day,
Dorin
