as the photo was taken during i was there so i did not had the measurment. and i haven't measured the size yet even by now. it is much bigger than china's domestic sp. that are widelly distributed and very large quantity if you catch the correct season,in some regions, local people cook them as food. it's said the a Malasian Cyrtotrachelus sp. is world largest??how big it is? does anyone can share a photo? I think it could be Cyrtotrachelus buqueti or C. longimanus depending on it's size? Mahakamia kampmeinerti is the Malasian longarm weevil. I have 3 males and one female but this is the biggest male, it's 108mm just on the arm itself. It is the weevil with the longest arms in the world but not the biggest in body size. Attachments:

wow..........really so huge! that's the photo i wanted to see. and,did you had the problem that all Cyrtotrachelus' yellow color will fade away after they died? because Cyrtotrachelus' yellow color are bright. your specimens from Xishuangbanna of Yunnan looks very similar with what i have from Sichuan, but i am not sure the size comparation. but thouse in Sichuan were for food by some local people in large quantity

Yes, you can find all Cyrtotrachelus sp and Mahakamia kampmeinerti and Lucanidae on young bamboo shoots, if you're there at the right time.

Are you talking about largest Cyrtotrachelus or a largest weevil?
I'm curious what is the largest weevil.

I think this timber weevil pair (male 87mm and female 80mm) from Malaysia is the largest weevil in the world but I don't have a name for them. Maybe someone here can ID them for me??? Attachments:

i just finlished spreading my big weeivil. see the size yourself. the body (included nose) is about 7cm+ (not accurate). but arm is shorter than your Xishuangbana male you said was 83mm. i am so jealous to your long arm sp. and the biggest timber weeivls. Attachments:

Now that I had a better look at them, I think they are just Cyrtotrachelus buqueti. You should try and dry them in the fridge so you can keep their colour.
