Hello Here is a picture of Charaxes saperanus, an endemic of Mayotte Island. This butterflies is not shy, flying at 1-3 meter of the ground. You can touch it with your fingers, and you can take photos as you want. I'd never seen this kind of behaviors with species of the same genus in continental Africa. It is not uncommon in december. Love that bug. In my opinion the nicest of the varanes group. Do you see paradoxa?

I know 2 good localities for paradoxa, but this one is unreachable for photography. The season start in a few weeks, and I will try to bred it, as I know the host-plant.
