Hi friends, last night i found under the light a male of Zeuzera pyrina. Searching on the net, i discovered that this species, when dies, loses a lot of grease, in fact a lot of mounted specimens on the collections are damaged and change their white color. Do you know how to prevent this damage? At the moment, the specimen is alive in a box Attachments:

What some here do is remove the abdomen and degrease it separately, then glue it back on once the moth is spread. Alternatively you can degrease the whole moth before you spread it.

Are you sure the abdomen is the only source of the grease? Can the torax be another source?

I have a pair of these from the 1880's with no greasing at all.
