Thank you for your comment. Yes, it is a very unique Nymphalid species. In some subspecies, the upperside has a striking violet glitter watching from some angle just like males of Apatura spp.
I hope to film such a beautiful scene in the near future.

His behaviour also looks close from Apaturinae's, despite it is today classified as a Limenitidinae.
We should pay more attention to behaviours in the way we classify leps. Evolution is not only a pattern issue.

Thank you for your response, wollastoni. I absolutely agree you but we can never study all the behaviors of all butterfly species in many cases. At that case, we have to study the external features such as wing pattern or genitalia from the specimen... Yes, I guess many butterfly species are "confused" because it is impossible to compare the biology of those species. Nature is really great. We have to do our every effort to unveil its hidden secrets. Cheers, mokky
