Can anyone tell me if this is coelodon cervum or coelodon sp. It's from tanzania. I'm not sure if this species lives in this part of africa or not. The female specimen is 59mm long while the males are approx 54mm. thanks in advance pete Attachments:

Based upon what I can read from this paper, since most of it is written in German. It appears to be Taurotagus similis Adlbauer, 1998. From: Revision der Gattung Taurotagus Lacordaire (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae, Cerambycini). 1998: Arthropod Biology: Contributions to Morphology, Ecology and Systematics-Biosystematics adn Ecology series 14: 333-363.

thanks for that. i read it may be the species you stated on the cerambycidae forum but wasn't sure. I can't find hardly anything relating to it on the net. I've bought tonnes of gear from my dealer in tanzania, but this is the first time he has sent me any of this type. Do you have a pair jeff? If not i'll send you some. thanks again pete

I have the similar species Tauratagus griseus from there. My source from Tanzania is a native collector. If you want to send me a pair, that's fine. Jeff Prill
