It looks like Scrobigera albomarginata, checking the Thai Noctuidae book (Kononenko & Pinratana, 2005), although that book does not list Malaysia in the species distribution.

Hi Adam, your suggestion is in good agreement with the figure of S. albomarginata on the website mothphotograph.web.fc2.com/Agaristinae/agaristinae3.htmlThe only difference is the much broader white outer margin of my specimen. But this could indicate a different (new ?) subspecies. As it may be, your suggestion was great, as always !!!! Many thanks for your effort ! Best regards Manfred Attachments:

Actually, Scrobigera albomarginata is completely black, and has a thin white border along both wings, not the wide border that is pictured here. There's a photograph of it on Thai bugs. The identification is not correct. Jeff Prill

Well they seem quite different to me. Here are the pictures of S. albomarginata from Kononenko & Pinratana, 2005 (numbers 7-9, number 6 is another species, S. vulcania). Note particularly the obviously rounded forewing apex, which is clearly pointed in the moth on Thai Bugs. To me that looks more like a species of Lygniodes. As I said before, I'm only going by the Thai moth book I have, and am by no means an expert on these, so I could be wrong. Adam. Attachments:

I'm convinced Adam is not wrong. The specimen is definitely Scrobigera albomarginata, perhaps ssp. opheltes DRUCE, 1885. The specimen matches completely the original description of Druce. It must be a female as HEMMING, Catalogue of the Lepidoptera Phalaenae in the British Museum, Volume III, p. 544 states that the female has the neck with a white ring (male: orange).
And yes, I have purchased it at the Frankfurt fair this weekend.
