Hi, I bought this moth from ebay and I need help with the identification. This is the text came with the auction. vnb 4290 # VIETNAM - Unmounted Butterfly / Moth / Hawk Moth Sphingidae # ( 11 ) I do not think this is a Sphingidae but a notodontidae. I would be very grateful if someone could help me. /Stefan Attachments:

I went to Bold Systems. It's a Notodontidae. Tarsolepis fulgurifera. Jeff Prill

this guy is offering tons of stuff from Vietnam, unfortunately without any collecting data (well except Vietnam 2012, which is a bit vague, isn't it)!

You will get the most accurate determinations if you post the site location, at least close and not just Vietnam. Otherwise you could miss out on ssp, etc. FWIW

You can't blame sjo for not quoting data he wasn't given. It's the fault of the eBay seller just stating "Vietnam" as the locality.
Actually getting data out of Vietnamese dealers is very difficult at the best of times. Usually the best they will give you is province and month, if that.
Adam.

Point noted Adam, typical Ebay. No foul intended, this bug had been identified... was just reminding why Clark was asked to add the sticky he did on posting locations. Lots of folks still don't even when they have it, and with indescript pictures might miss out on complete determinations.
