Hello all,
I was wondering if I could get some help in identifying (what I presume is) a wasp here? It was in October and by the way the wasp is struggling to move at the end, I am presuming the wasp was near its end because of the cold. So is this a parasitic wasp and was it trying to lay eggs? In my complete ignorance in knowledge of insects, this would be my presumption of what is happening. Many thanks in advance for any answers!

So, once again, I profess my almost total ignorance when it comes to insects. From my latest readings, would I be on the right track to think this is a Ichneumonoid wasp? I read there are 3000 species of which in North America. I'd be happy to even be able to narrow it down somewhat if it wasn't possible to name the exact species from this footage. Any opinions welcome and thanked in advance!

Search Google images for this species to see additional photos.

As a follow up to this, I thought it would be very easy to identify the caterpillar, but I really had to research it to find anything even resembling it. I think I have it now. Would it be Oeneis jutta?

It looks more like a Pieridae, doesn't it ? But I am not a caterpillar expert at all...

No, not Oeneis jutta. Looks to be one of the many varieties of garden cut worm or army worm. No time to look further now. Leaving town for Thanksgiving holiday in a few minutes.
