The tiny and remarkable O. paradisea knoetgeni ( Schaffler 2014 ) from the River Digul - Star Mountains - 800 -1200 meters is certainly one of the most exciting Birdwing discoveries of Recent times.

My favorite is the run-of-the-mill tithonus, but nobody wants to see a photo of that.
But I thought some might appreciate these (bad) photos.

Both are from Ranongga Island. Laurie The blue form, whatever it is called, is most common on Ranongga.

Question: I have many female (Ornithoptera priamus poseidon)birdwings from all over the island on New Guinea (East, West, Central). Can anyone post a female (I imagine from Oro Province) that is an (Ornithoptera alexandrae) "mimic" in appearance. I have only read about this form in literature, but have never seen a specimen.
Thank you.
Truly,
Paul Bodnar

could I trouble you to ask what process you use in relaxing Ornithoptera so as not to stain their wings?
