Based on my specimens from Sand Ridge State Forest and the aedeagus in "A Monograph of the Genus Polyphylla Harris in America North of Mexico by Ronald M. Young; I would say that it is a vittate form of Polyphylla hammondi LeConte, 1856. This species reaches Mexico and the southwestern USA. My specimens from Illinois are non vittate, or have the semblance of lines on the elytra. The monograph is probably still available through the University of Nebraska State Museum. Jeff Prill

Thank you Jeff! Male genitalia in dorsal view is different from hammondi depicted in this paper, probably due to the great variability of that species. If you have any news about Polyphylla from Mexico, please inform me. Daniele
