I have identified this as Emesis mandana. Also colled November 2007. Thanks for any help. Farfett Attachments:

I'm reasonably sure that it is not an Emesis. But I I don't have any guesses off the top of my head.
The lower wing surfaces would be helpful.

Could be Synargis tytia (Cramer, 1777), male. I can send this photo to a friend Riodinidae of French Guyane specialist. To do this, it would be better to communicate the location of capture of the butterfly.

Both locations (Fourgassier and Patawa) are along the same road (Montagne de Kaw road D6). Fourgassier on the western part, Patawa on the eastern trunk of the road. Synargis orestessa was abundant there in October 2012? Attachments:

At Fourgassier, I collected just outside the road [actually on the D6] which leads to the cascades. At Patawa I collected just beneath the antenna. I have collected only 2 specimens of Synargis orestessa!! Thanks for the determination. I have posted another riodinid and still have a few to verify or determine.
