Here is one I really am baffled over. It is from Panama and I don't yet have the measurements. Would appreciate any ID assistance. Attachments:

Sorry to say that your collecting data is wrong. This is a male of Opodiphthera helena and can't come from Panama, but from Australia.

I agree Thanos. How did it purport to come from Panama?

Thanks Thanos and Steve. I, too, was thinking along the same lines. How it was labelled as from Panama is what was perplexing about it. My best guess is that it may have been reared in Panama and the breeder forgot to list from where the parent stock came from

Highly unlikely that anyone in Panama is rearing Opodiphthera helena. Maybe there is a typing mistake, and it could mean to be some locality in Australia.

Hope you can contact who supplied it and get it's correct data confirmed. A specimen without correct data is pretty much considered worthless by most folks.

No, it's helena.
Note: There is an area in N. Qld called 'Paluma' (quite close to 'Panama' in spelling), but from there it should be eucalypti. O. helena occurs in C. and S. Qld as far as I know (in S. Qld eucalypti occurs, too). But Bill's male morphologically fits to helena.

New South Wales has a Parramatta near the East coast. Midway between Adelaide and Melbourne is a Penola. If the double r in Parramatta smudged then it could look like an n resulting in Panamatta. Just speculation though.

Thanks thanos and wingedwishes. Your ideas do indeed provide food for thought. I'll see if I can contact the seller and see if the original label is around. Your insights into the location are both plausible and appreciated
