Hellanichus, Papilio garamas has several subspecies with different availability/value. But as Radusho told, black form females are not so extreme rarity - at least in case of nominate ssp. and ssp.electryon. Papilio garamas ssp.electryon is bred in Costarica and Honduras and pupaes are regularly sold in pupae shops in acceptable price - about 5 Euro each. Of course they are available only in limited time of year, but if you are lucky you can add nice specimens to your collection and also be granted with nice moments when such splendid specimens emerging from pupaes. I had 20 pupaes - 13 from 20 were females, 6 of 13 females were black form, extreme luck .... yes, I know . Just now in case you want "normal" purchase you should be prepared to pay about 200E for black female of ssp.electryon / more red on hindwings / , maybe even little more for ssp.garamas. Jan

Why dont you use WANT TO BUY ads on insectnet.com Classifieds? Warning, if you post a "Want to buy" ad you will almost certainly be replied to by scammers who claim to have exactly what you want, but probably from Cameroon! Make sure that whoever replies to you is genuine, and don't send ANY money in advance. Adam.

Hello, I was offered P garamas dark female for $52 USD. This seems quite low to me. Something does not seem right at this price. It must be a scam.
