Gosh! He was so young to die at age 66. Was it a natural or accidental or disease death?
The worldwide Lepidoptera community lost a valued member but he lives on in memory through his achievements and contributions. I have many fond memories of collecting on Luzon Island in the Rataan Peninsula area.

Thank you for enjoying my blog.
Yes, the late Mr. Kitamura was a great Lepidopterist.
Very sad thing is that most of his papers had been published only in Japanese. Overseas colleagues find it difficult to access his vast achievements. If I had enough spare time and money, I would translate his papers into English.

I find articles like these inspiring. This man was a civil engineer but still published contributions to biology. There is less mystery in the world but still some... to discover the first female, the first larvae. I dream of doing the same. Great butterfly by the way.
