I finially got this Cheirotonus terunumai pair male 62mm from Tibet China, the last missing sp (decribed in 2008) to my Cheirotonus collection. I traveled all the way to this location in Tibet last year to personially collect this sp and it's one of the most remote places I've ever been to. Only Chinese citizens are permited to enter this area control by the Chinese army. After so many paper works and permits and staying there for a week and came home enpty handed. I have to purchase this pair from Japan. I read some where in Japan, sulfur dioxide is used to preserve the yellow colour in Cheirotonus. I know sulfur dioxide gas is used in meat packaging in suppermarkets to preserve the red in meat to make the colour last longer. Dose anyone know anything on how to use sulfur dioxide gas to preserve the yellow in beetles? Attachments:

This pair Cheirotonus terunumai were kept in alcohol for far too long and the yellow has turned very dark, it's almost black. I've already tried acetone and it didn't change anything on the colour. Here's is a specimen that prepared with sulfur dioxide gas in Japan. Attachments:

I restoried the colour by using a bleach, instead of sulfur dioxide gas. I gave up on using sulfur dioxide gas, it's too expensive, difficult and toxic. Here's the result. Attachments:

I know someone who has Cheirotonus macleayi for sell at the moment but Cheirotonus jambar it's the hardest Cheirotonus to find. I personially flew to Japan and exchange with a Japanese and brought it back with me. Finding someone who has jambar and willing to sell or exchange it's only half of the problem because you won't find someone in Japan is willing to send jambar out of of Japan.

I'm sure this is Cheirotonus terunumai from Zayu SE.Tibet. This sp is eaily indentify by the curve of it's arms. okozeaigo.com/244262/Cheirotonus.htmlHave you got any photos of the specimens you caught this time?
