Hello Can someone identify this rhino beatle I met in Batutumonga, Tana Toraja, 1800m, Sulawesi in Jan 2011. It was about 12 cm long. It crashed on a wall during the night, I heard a big noise and found him knocked out. Thanks Olivier Attachments:

Chalcosoma caucasus, some refer to it as the three horn beetle.

From these photos it looks rather like C. atlas to me since the tooth on the cephalic horn is absent.

I remember during my last visit by Batutumonga, there was a large amount of Lucanidae around the lights on my hotel terrace ... And daytime, interesting butterflies! Batatutumonga a very nice place!
