Hi, I have these two down as P. friendi and believe that's what they are, however I wanted some confirmation. I have more detailed location data for them if needed. 60mm, Peru 68mm, Peru Thanks, R~

Greetings,
I can't be 100% sure on these, but based on what I can see in the photos, I believe that the upper (brownish) specimen is Psalidognathus reichei Quentin & Villiers, 1983, and the bottom specimen (blackish) is Psalidognathus modestus Fries, 1833.
I used the key to males of the "modestus" group in:
Santos-Silva, A. and Z. Komiya. 2012. Contribution towards the knowledge of Psalidognathus Gray, 1831 (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae, Prioninae). Insecta Mundi 0247: 1-28
Search 'Psalidognathus' in Google, and you'll get a link to the paper online, about 4 items down.
Oddly, Santos-Silva and Komiya give "Columbia and Ecuador" as the range for P. reichei in the key, but in the species account, they cite "Ecuador and Peru". I have recently acquired a series of this form, and mine are all from Peru as well.
Hope this helps...
Cheers! Bandrow
