I'm pretty certain this is stichopthalma louisa, for certain not godfreyi, this is godfreyi. Attachments:

S. louisa is certainly the commonest species of Stichopthalma in Laos (so it may also be common in next-door Vietnam) and looks similar to the specimen under question with the brown colour, but I am not an expert on these, so don't want to confirm that it is S. louisa.

I am confused by the gray color on the lower wing.
maybe it's just a variation? There are 2 identical specimen with gray color on the lower wing.

According the d'Abrera picture, S. louisa shows 2 (only) spots on the HW underside and 5 on the FW underside. This sample has 3 on the HW UDS and only 2 on the FW UDS !. On the other way, as I wrote, it's the same ventral face than in godfreyi (but only ventral face !). Using the Pisuth Ek Amnuay's book on thai butterflies : several subspecies of S. louisa pictured : none matching with this vietnamese sample (Northern or Southern Vietnam ?? low or high elevation ?). Always regarding the underside, the sample matches with S. cambodia. But in cambodia the upperside is blue and not orange ! Same thing with S. godfreyi (blue upperside). I can't tell more since I'mnot a specialist and because the vietnamese subspecies are not pictured on the Yutaka website ! As dynastes said, the upperside colour is confusing : nothing similar inside my documentation ! Anyway, it's a very beautiful butterfly !

Wo says that S. cambodia has to be blue on the upperside? It can be greenish brown to light brown. I believe this to be cambodia.
