Anyone know what species this is? It seems like a Astraptes species, but I just can't pin the actual species down. The photo was taken 22nd March in the southern-most "Yungas" (Mountain mist forests) above Tucuman in North Western Argentina. The whole hind-wings are a beautiful shining blue. Nigel Attachments:

This is not a Hesperiidae, but a Nymphalidae in genus Doxocopa. Maybe D.cyane

Many thanks, The photo was taken by a friend who was with me, and I did wonder if it was a male Doxocopa, but thought, looking at the photo only, it to be a Hesperiidae.
It must be D.cyane, but I wonder if it is a sub-species this far south? Seems to have more extensive violet blue on hind-wing and also more violet blue on base of F.W.s Maybe just a normal variation. thanks again for your answer. Nigel
