I found this caterpillar in February near Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco Mexico. It was on a good sized hardwood tree hiding in a leaf folded with silk. It was about 2.5 inches long and fairly stout. I kept it for a few days. It was still actively feeding when we had to leave. I released it. Any help with identification would be much appreciated. I haven't the slightest idea what it might be. Too hairy to be a butterfly caterpillar there are various silk moths in that part of Mexico so it is likely to be a Saturnid larvae, I'm no expert so no idea which species.

I'm by no means an expert, but maybe it's a larva from the Arsenurinae subfamily?
