I didn't think Eumorpha cissi flew that far north.

You may be correct. If it is not Eumorpha cissi, it can only be Eumorpha elisa.
I only have E.cissi in my collection from Ecuador, which it closely resembles. However, I looked in D'Abrera's Hawk Moths of the World and I believe you are correct, E. cissi does not occur in Mexico.
Send me PM with the photograph and I will send it to a collague in Mexico for confirmation.

Thank you again for your help. I compared this specimen to my own personal E. cissi specimen and there are a lot of noticeable differences.
