Not Automeris, but rather Molippa (= Auroraia). I believe this is Molippa eophila (Dognin), though I think the proper classification after Brechlin and Meister (2011) is Auroraia eophila. However, eophila is generally a grayer moth, not quite as brown as this specimen. Either way, very nice!

I think it is sufficiently different in appearance and location from Auroraia eophila to possibly be an undescribed species. It would belong to the Auroraia genus as saturniidaedave has indicated. Hindwing of A. eophila is usually pink with a grey forewing. Please send me a private message or private email. Bill Oehlke

Hi Bill, I'm with you on thinking it is undescribed, though definitely near eophila. And just to clarify, I'm not saturniidaedave (though I now realize how similar our usernames look).
