Hello! I have 2 beetles as on photo. It from Indonesia, Ambon Island. I bought them as unnamed species from the tribe Melolonthini. At several sites - insects-stores, they are named as Lepidoderma setifrons. but nowhere else this name does not appear. I also found that Lepidoderma - a genus of fungi. Who knows the true name of this beetle?Attachments:

Greetings,
Looks to me to be the genus Lepidiota - probably a case of a misspelled genus name...
Cheers! Bandrow

but I can`t find a photo of it.

Greetings, The genus Antitrogus is distributed through eastern Australia, and this species is from Indonesia. My first thought is that it was in the genus Dermolepida, due to its resemblance to " Dermolepida" pica - another species readily available on dealer websites. However, on the 'biolib.cz' website, Dermolepida was cited as being a genus of amphibian (if my memory serves me correctly), and the scarab species often listed in Dermolepida are all in Lepidiota. Unfortunately, several attempts to recheck that website have failed - the site must be temporarily down. Next - I found a number of references to Dermolepida albohirtum (Waterhouse)- a species found in Australia, and with its distribution cited as being "Australasia and Oceania" - kind of vague. Here's the link for that info: www.padil.gov.au/pests-and-diseases/Pest/Main/135637I'll check into this and see what the current status of Dermolepida and Lepidiota are and post it here if I can get a clear answer. The Melolonthinae is a big group, and it's always possible that there is a species called setifrons in more than one genus. Hope this helps... Bandrow

Greetings,
I finally got onto biolib.cz and Dermolepida is indeed listed as a genus of Melolonthinae, but they list only two species - albohirtum (Waterhouse) and lixi (Nonfried) - both apparently Australian.
Cheers! Bandrow

it is imho Dermolepida albohirtum, but surely not from Ambon, this genus is restricted to PNG or Australia
