Hello ,anyone have ever bought specimens on this website? new.esperanzainsects.com/Is it trustworthy? Last week, I bought something from there. They accepted only bank wire. I paid it 9 days ago, they told me when the payment is credited they would inform me! However, I still wait for their reply now... As a result, if someone had bought specimens from him please tell me~ |

I've bought several specimens from him through ebay and never had a problem.
Quality as stated or shown in the photo, excellent data, good packaging.

Well, this company is run by Peter Jakubek. I seem to remember he was the person who threatened to sue Clark because of critical posts about him in the Trading Reports forum which led to the current password protected forum we have now.

He got some bad reports in this forum section (in the former insectnet platform) and has threatened the admin to delete these. Due to this the Trading Reports section now is protected by password.

check about permits - I asked around a few years back, and no-one who works in Mexico thought that he had one.

Andy, I dealt with him once on his e-bay site and had no problems with him except that his e-bay list his "home" base out of Helena, Montana. Not true. I e-mailed him to inquire why my package was taking so long (I live in the USA) and he replied the package was coming from Europe:Sure enough, the parcel origin was from Czechoslovakia ( if my memory serves me). There has been complaints on the forum of people not receiving the quality of specimen they order or not the same specimen as depicted on his site. If you go to his ebay site he skirts this issue by not calling out the quality of the specimen. He use to state when a specimen was "repaired", not any more. He seems to deliver the specimens though, just be sure to verify that the quality is what you ordered. I won't be ordering from him anymore though......keep abreast on this forum, this community is a great bunch of folks who look out for others. In conclusion, I think you will get your specimens. Good luck.

He seems to forget the total is fee involved and I won't pay him more.
Well, I don't think he is a understanding guy .
I don't know if he is a dealer or a frauder, I 'll check this out~

As I recall, that was one of the biggest issues many have with him. Added costs for shipping and handling because of "currency differences".

I've coded his comments in RED. In the exchange below, my posts were pulled by Peter from the old forum and inserted into his email to me. I never bought from him on eBay, as his starting prices for auctions were already often more than I was prepared to pay for a specimen. Maybe "Hopeforinsects" means "hope he will send you your insects". I found the seller gave me a rather negative impression, and hence would avoid bidding on his items even if some were very interesting, although I really didn't have any personal evidence of wrongdoing.

It's really a long story.
I think the word 'obnoxious' is correct! haha
I had heard him before , but didn't notice he is the owner of Esperanza Insects.
In my opinion, that's why he want to ask me to pay by bank wire.
I would not recognize him in this way. (He didn't give me his name in purpose)
Now,he promise to send my parcel after paying 15usd to him.
I don't know why he has so many excuses though the fact is right there.
Just like you said, he is very confrontational without any sense.
I hope I can get the parcel safely and won't buy items from him in the future.

Reminds me of one of those Nigerian scams, where they keep getting you to pay a bit more ... although in this case I think he'll send the parcel after you pay. What I don't understand is why he didn't include the $15 in the original charge???
