I have found this creature in large numbers flying in open areas in Perry and Harrison counties in southern Indiana and Owen County in central Kentucky. Their wings fold up when caught. I reached into my net to catch it and the little bugger bit me. I have never seen these before. Or, I have never noticed them before. Attachments:

It is a rove beetle of some sort, possibly in the genus Platydracus, maybe species maculosus.
