Just to clear this situation up, there is an EU directive telling that imports of animals must be inspected by a vet, including dead insects. Germany was very quick at following this directive and made the necessary laws, now France probably has followed this directive too. Unfortunately I do not know the number of the respective directive and I do not have the time to check for it. You are not getting fined when your parcel has not been registered, the 145€ is the regular price of such an inspection.

I agree with this, but the onus is on the EXPORTING country to do the inspecting and issue the certificate.

This, if really enforced, would kill the insect trade... Claude, is it only for non-EU parcels ?

When I remember correctly I heard the first time about it in 2010
I don't know as I don't know the exact number of the directive. I will ask at the museum, this might take some time as the Congress of Lepidopterology of the SEL will be next week.

You may also discover that any trades or exchanges must be passed through the TRACES system upon the issuing of the veterinary certificate.

Looks like a killer for the insect trade. I can`t imagine buying $25.00 specimens and vet inspections of over $145.00 extra . As it is I have to work pretty hard to get the specimens I export and licence fee to pay already to export, more paperwork with customs clearance again to export . Norton tells me the onus is on me now to supply a vet export certificate.I don`t think so , my specimens are quality with no pests, unlike stuff I have received in the past for my personal collection from 3rd world countries which need fumigation already at my cost to import. Forget it , I just give up exporting I think as the whole system becomes unviable. Already customers want as much discount as possible . I better start looking for a regular job I think. So much for having a unique business. Good luck to everyone.
