My friend agreed to give M. Pelissie until Wednesday (2 days ago now) to reply, but he still has not e-mailed to say when he will pay, or any other reply. It certainly looks as if he's at the very least not taking any effort to keep my friend informed about making payment for the specimens which he is now selling on his website.
Christof, thanks for the info but neither my friend nor I use Facebook. If you want to put a notice on his page "Why haven't you paid Sukkit for the beetles he sent you?" that would be great!

My friend has his phone number. He called him a few weeks ago but couldn't understand the French at the other end of the phone line. I will ask him for the number tomorrow and send it to you.

I have just received an e-mail from M. Pelissie's son or daughter explaining that their father had a 'cerebral vascular accident and is between the life and the death'. I think this means that he had a brain haemorrhage, what we normally call a stroke in UK English. This would certainly explain why M. Pelissie never replied to my friend's e-mails, and sadly makes sense to me as I was very surprised that a well known dealer would not reply about paying for specimens he ordered.
I hope he makes a full recovery, but know that a stroke is a very long term illness. An event like this always reminds us how lucky we are while healthy, and how we never know what will happen to us from day to day.

Very sad indeed.
His family or colleagues must be running the site/business.
Wishing him all the very best...

His son/daughter (they didn't say) e-mailed to tell me what had happened to their father, and I replied with my best wishes (as above) and also asked if it is possible for someone to send the beetles back to Mr. Sukkit so he can sell them to another dealer as he doesn't have much money. So far I have not received a reply.
Is someone actually running the website and answering customers' e-mails at the moment? It had occurred to me that family members might not know which beetles were the ones that Mr. Sukkit sent him.

I`m sorry to hear about Geralds health. I dealt with him about 20 years now , he bought and paid for my insects in advance every time . We had a great businesses working relationship. I hope his family can keep up with the business and his great reputation that I knew. He paid in advance for the first parcel I ever sent him. Never a bad word between us only trust.

I had a reply on july 7th regarding some costly specimens from Myanmar (including photographs) that were in their 'latest arrivals' list. They offered me a 20% discount. However, I have not received any more replies since the dates mentioned above, upon further inquiries.

I`m dealing with ageing parents from both sides of the family and it takes up so much time , can you imagine how Geralds family is dealing with this. I guess if they decide to continue the business they will catch up when time allows. Just sometimes people need to be patient and compassionate.

Indeed, and that has been my attitude from the start, as I had suspected that there must be some reason why a well known dealer didn't pay for the specimens he bought.

Mr. Sukkit still hasn't received either any payment for his specimens or return of those specimens, and I have not received a reply to my last 2 e-mails. This is despite my noting that M. Pelissie's website has lots of new insects on offer, and the homepage states "updated September 07, 2013". Even if M. Pelissie himself is seriously ill someone is still operating his business on his behalf, and I find it rather poor that there is a total lack of communication between M. Pelissie's business and Mr. Sukkit or myself.

No, he's still selling but mostly wholesale only to a few customers, rather than supplying lots of people. In the past few years he has been selling less than he was before, that is certainly the case. Most of his sales go to a single Japanese dealer, but since he has been buying less material recently Mr. Sukkit decided to send a shipment to M. Pelissie after he asked Mr. Sukkit to sell some to him. As M. Pelissie was an old customer of his he thought that there would be no problems and he would receive prompt payment.
