So as I have started to eat better I have learned a few negative things about wheat here and there. But after my mom found this interesting book - Wheat Belly By William Davis MD - I have lerned so much more. I have not read it all the way to the back cover but have learned a lot so far. The current strains of wheat (GMOs and hyberdysed strains ) we eat are making us sick and fat acording to Davis. Wheat according to Davis causes diabedes, Celiac disese, rashes, brain abnormalides, organ probles and wait gain. The problem is wheat is found in almost every food we eat : bread, ceareal, enregy bars, cookies, crackers, noodles and even beer. Other unexpected places are Almond milk ice Cream (I found this one out my self), flavored coffees & teas, lipstick, licorice, seasoning mixes, stamp glue. malt, soups, and artificial colors to name a few. Well He also says Starches are bad because they cause blood suger to rise higher than the wheat dos. Unfortunutly many glutun free foods have starch in them. Well big name companeys like Blue dimond, Kellogs and Nebiscoe and many others have a chalenge on thier hands to make gluten and starch free foods that will make the nation thiner and less fat. This will get rid of most of the diabides and celiac disease to. Healthy grains include Quinoa, Sorghum, Buckwheat, Millet and posibly Oats. That is at least untill they are made in to GMOs just as wheat has been. So get your self a Wheat Belly book and get healthry America!

ALMOND MILK? oh no I just started drinking it, I'm on my second litre and now I read this.... Back to the drawing board.
lol "a healthy america" not likely, there are too many people that do not care for their health, they WANT to eat that burger, that chocolate, etc... They are too far gone, people tend not to change, they dont want to. Humans have these realisations all the time. They know that they are doing the wrong thing. They pause think about it and then what do they do? Carry on as normal and do nothing about it, all very zombie-like.
Wheat Belly hey?
Oh and on the subject of celiac disease. I heard someone injesting roundworms (purposefully) and striking a symbiosis and going on to eat wheat products, how bout it...

But a word of caution about this whole idea: Dr. Julie Miller Jones, a professor emerita at the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minn., researched and published a peer-reviewed, 12,000-word paper that shined a light on Davis’ claims.
She effectively refutes all of Davis's claims.
I would avoid wheat if I had Celiac disease. I don't have the genetic disease, so I won't give up all those great wheat products!

Round worms are not the cuase of ceiliac deseas. I think it was the cockies in the almond milk ice cream that may have been the sorse of the wheat ingredent. After reading more in the book after my first post you can be negative for ceiliac and still get many of the side effects caused by glutin getting into your bood steam and then being spread around the body. Some affects are mood swings, depretion, sevear head achs like mygrains, food binges, rashes , alergys , asma, diabedies and wors of all cancer to name a few. At this point I have stoped eating almost all foods containing wheat eccept for berbeque sous, and soy sause that I use to cook meat with.. My snacks between meals inclue nuts, cheese and a few gluton free crackers. Although starch must be watched out for in dead - it is found in glutin free foods. My meals are meat, cheese, and some times vegtibles of wich most I hate exsept for carrots and corn. Somtimes I fix a smothy with berrys, melon, vegtibles a little frut juse and spinch. A few sweets in moderation are fine. But many sorses of eating right will tell you to get rid of sugar all together is best. But when you got to have you chocolate fix what can you do? Any way Wheat kills when you come right down to the final piont of what the book is saying. I seems to be wors than pot. So read the book and become wise.

Nah, you confused bro. The round worms allegedly help with digestion and allow people with gluten intolerance to be able to digest products containing gluten. These people think that the roundworms and possibly other parasites which we now eradicate using modern medicine. They used to form a mutual bond, some may refer to it as symbiosis, where both organisms benefit from the relationship. That is if you prefer eating cake and don't mind having a constantly itchy arse with the occasional worm sliding out of your bum hole.

I sertonly do not agree with you on the worm idea. Gluten will still get into your blood stream and do its job of ruening all your organs and causing illness. The worms eat some of the food you would ingest but the rest gets digested as normal in your gut. Allthogh it might happen a little slower if you had many worms in the gut ( you would also be mal nurised because of the worms eating much of what you ingested )that in folks with out worms. To me this would be quite an unwise thing to do ( purpusfully get worms in the gut ).

Actually, the darker the bread, the better it is for you. White bread turns into sugar when it's in the stomach, which is the reason why many people eventually grow fatter and become unhealthy. I'm thin and healthy because I use whole wheat and avoid all the sugar, no matter where it comes from. Jeff Prill

All wheat flours including hole wheat flower have glutin in them that give you all the problems and illnesses talked about in the Wheat Belly book. All cumershally sold wheat flower of every kind, wheat containing foods contain glutin. You can not escape it by eating white bread or just sticking to whole wheat grain producs. The big name companys have told use over and over that healthy hole grains are good for use. But not all of them are and wheat is the worst of the unhealthy bunch because of what genetists have done to it. Now oveusly folks reading this thread do not get it yet. So here is the worst and most shocking thing of all that wheat dos to you : it kills brain cells. That is it kills Purkinje cells in the cerebellum that do not grow back. Once lost they are lost for good. Between ages 48 and 53 those of you who do not stop eating wheat that kills these brain cells will have some of the fallowing :loss of balance @ cordination, lateral involuntary twiching of eyes, muscle twitching, jerking motions of limbs, impaired menory, incontinence, sezures, and dementia. You do not have to test positive for celiac to have any of these. So be scarde now, stop eating wheat and read the book before you take another bite of that delishus pizza or coocky. I have not reached my late 40s yet, have just stopped eating wheat and I do get twiching mucles in one leg. So yes some of my brain cells have died. So there is proof for you douters. STOP EATING WHEAT !!!

No Bluemoth. The point is that you read a book that is full of BS. You believed it all and decided to proselytize about this BS. The people who are responding probably "get it". Gluten is bad for people with Celiac disease. Gluten is fine for the rest of us. There is no real evidence that GM wheat is any different nutritionally from the old non-GM wheat. KEEP EATING WHEAT!!!

The "old wheat" is GM too! Thousands of years of selective breeding and cultivation of mutations brought us what we eat today. The definition of GMO can be genes inserted/deleted, mutated, or changed. Mutations occur in nature so GMO, on a much smaller scale, happens without humans too. The likelyhood of having Diabetes (especially type I) is genetic. Bovine milk has a link to causing it in some groups like aboriginal Americans. That tendency is genetic so are aboriginal Americans GM?
I am overweight. Is it because I eat wheat? No - It is because I eat too late in the day with no activity to burn off the extra calories. If I stop eating late in the day, I lose weight. Will that work for everyone? No - The situation has too many variables to work the same for all. There is no miracle "don't eat XXX" or "Always eat YYY" that will solve obesity in cultures where leisure causes alot of sedentary behavior.

All I will say now then read the book. It is not a buncch of junk info. Glutin is bad for every one - no one is imune to its effects. Lots of refrinces are listed in the back of the book including studies done on eating wheat. Do not forget the author is a doctor and has thoughroly reserched the wheat porblems. The antiont wild wheat dos not make poeple ill because the glutin is not absorbed through the intestin into the blood stream. When wheat started to be hyberdised and geneticly worcked with the glutin be came able to cross through the intestens in to the blood stream and now causes the prblems listed in the book. I know there are some upset ,angry folks out there because of what the book says - do not eat all the wonderful prsesed foods we love. Of corse I mis the pizza, coockies , cake add so on. But I sure do not want to get the illnesses caused by wheat. But We now can all feel better, even loose a few pounds or more if we eat things with out wheat in them. So far I feel better after only a few months with no wheat and have even lost some pounds. Remember every one is difforent and things will happen slower or faster depending of many facters of each persons life. Try not eating any wheat for one month then eat out - get peace of pizza or a hamberger sadwich or go to a fast food restrant chain. I gerentee you will notice the difforence. I did when I got lunch at Dairy Queen one day - a little bloating, mild intestanl grumbling, stronger faster beating heart - posibly caused by increece of blood sugar. My meal included bread made with wheat. So was that just a srange off the wall bad food day. I do not think so.

Funny how people believe everything they see on television or read in print of any form. There may be ten million publications on a subject, but reading one of them may throw a person into a zealous rampage at any moment. I hold the secret to weight control which I will reveal now.........Consume fewer calories each day than you use each day and you will eventually lose weight.

Well there is a reason that there are 10mil publications. And that's because its not that simple, well generally speaking it is but; Calories ain't calories and not everybody metabolizes equally.
