I have some parsley in my yard and some black swallowtail butterfly caterpillars are eating it, one of them has made a pupa nearby so I am wondering how long does it take for them to emerge? it just pupated yesterday so does anyone have an estimate of the time?

This group of swallowtails are hard to predict. When they pupate after mid-summer, they could emerge in 10 days or they could postpone emergence and overwinter 'til next spring. It's just unpredictable.
