I had someone bring this into me at work for identification, and it has me stumped. They were found in hardwood maple.
The maples were either Acer rubrum or Acer saccharum. I do not think they are beetle larvae but I am not sure.

Check into that family and see if that is possibly what you have... Cheers! Bandrow
