Pate, I think your tarantula hawk is Pepsis toppini. That's quite a big specimen for this sp. South America has some turely giant wasps. But giant tarantula hawk from Asia is as hard to find as the S. American one but not as big as them. This sp from Thailand is the largest sp I've seen from Asia.

That's quite a large actaeon. I think from my memory they can get to 138mm.

How do Actaeon compare to comparable Goliathus in-hand Peter? I've seen a few sources say they are substantially heavier but haven't been able to verify this for myself.

I've also heard acteon is heavier! Where are the Pepsis heros pics? There are many huge species of Pepsis. My largest this season had wing's at over 4cm each in AZ.

You're welcome. Do you have my email address? I can do more IDs but it gets a little tricky using photos. It just happens that deaurata is one of the "easy" ones, of 133 species. I would need close shots of the hind tarsal claws, dorsal of the heads/antenna, natural light shots of the wings and closeups of the vertex/first three antennal segments. Depending upon the genus, I can also help with large asilidae and mydidae. Glad to hear of your package of material. I would love to see some photos.
