icarus usually has 2 spots in the forewing underside basal area. However, 1 is common and I have taken it with no spots there in the UK. This causes interesting problems in areas of the continent where A. thersites is found, especially with the females. 3 spots is unusual but not particularly rare. Your specimen I am 99% sure will be icarus. Dave

Just come back from Sousse in Tunisia and have collected a Male & Female P. icarus both of which have the same markings as yours.

Hello
The Polyommatus from Tunisia are probably Polyommatus celina,I believe that Polyommatus icarus doesn´t fly in the north of Africa.

Hi Miguel
Polyommatus celina flies is southern europe and north west africa, P. icarus does fly in north east africa and i am 99% sure its icarus.
I do have a celina male from Malaga Spain and i can see the difference.
