I have this moth with collection data - Titaea tamerlan amazonensis, Route de Kaw, F. Guyane. Wingspan - 130 mm. But I think this is male of Titaea lemoulti. who is right? What are the differences betweem these species? Attachments:

I wanted to buy it from a local dealer, but I was alerted by the appearance. On the label - leg. Alain Audureau. but there are no name on label. I think this is error of local dealer of my country.

Yes, it is Titaea lemoulti. The most obvious difference is the size and character of the forewing hyaline cell spot. In lemoulti it is outwardly bordered in dark scaling. In tamerlan amazonensis, the hyaline area is larger and protrudes outwardly almost always beyond the dark scaling. There are other wing features/characters that are different, but I feel the one mentioned above is the one best used for quick id. Bill Oehlke

Yes, Alain Audureau is used to go to French Guyana 1 or 2 times each year. He is specialized in Paleotropical Cerambycidae.

Do you have a collection of Guyane francaise lepidoptera or are you interested only in Saturniidae? farfett
