Hi, My name Donny from West Kalimantan, Indonesia.Recently I have found weird acts of male Xylotrupes Gideon Borneesis, who mated with Chalcosoma Atlas female. Is this kind of behavior really work ?! Do you think the female will do laying eggs ?! If so, would it be a new species from both species. I have been collecting beetles almost 15 years, and this is my first time seeing this in the wild, I hope someone can give me an answer, and right now I'm keeping the female, who knows if it could laying eggs. Oh, and sorry, the pictures not so good, because I'm using cellphone, and take the pictures at night.

If the female was fertilized by a Chalcosoma atlas male it will lay eggs. But the mating between Xylotrupes and Chalcosoma will not result in any offspring. Would be very interesting what other beetles you collect at your home and if you could send them alive to germany

Do you know Greg Watson, he's the one who identified this new species. After seeing his new found from my friend in Japan, and that weird even last night, I think it will happen, a new hybrid. Hahaha, I do selling live specimen, including to Germany, if you know Peter Kautt, he's my customer from Germany. My Ads
