Dear Jonathan, May I ask what what is the species - Polyommatus celine? I never heard of it before, nor it is in the Higgins & Hargreaves Alex

Sincere thanks! Very interesting. But a 'sigh of relief' - it is not occur here! Simply, since you wrote 'common species' I thought it's some widespread one... Alex

hello guys. Meanwhile, Happy New Year to all of you. the specimen photographed should be an extreme form of female icarus. also in Italy is quite common from late August and September. the Polyommatus celina is a new species described in 2011 and officially divided by Polyommatus icarus. I personally collected in Morocco and Sicily and I have to say that I have not noticed taxonomic differences between the two species in fact indistinguishable. way to understand whether it is one or the other species should understand the origin (in Italy to tell all of Sicily Icarus are treated as Celina) ................. ......
