Hi everybody:
I am a private collector from Mexico city and not long ago I contacted a fellow from Quebec Canada and decided to send him several specimens of Baronia brevicornis along with other butterflies and beetles of Mexico. Christmas time ok, hollydays, vacation, visiting the family is everything all right; But two months have passed and I am still waiting for the promised bugs from him. I wonder if anyone of you have the same experience with a guy from Canada who calls himself Yves-Pascal Dion because he has not answer my mails anymore arguing that he is a very busy man and that's it! no more mails or news or bugs at all.
I do not want to talk evil about anyone in this forum but I began to suspect that he was not well intentioned when we agreed to make this deal.
Your opinion will be very much appreciated and thanks a lot for reading this.

There was a lot written about Yves-Pascal Dion in the old forum and not much of it was good. Many years ago I had a long correspondence with him about an order; he eventually went quiet and I heard no more from him. Fortunately I hadn't paid anything so all I wasted was time.
I believe others have had far worse experiences but I'll leave it to them to elucidate.
Bob

Victor, Sorry to hear of your run-in with Yves-Pascal Dion, a well known disreputable dealer. That sentence above must be rated as a real Insectnet classic. I hope that you can get something out of him for your specimens, but sadly I doubt you will have much luck. Probably a simple Google search using his name would have turned up the old Insectnet posts about him. Adam.

Let me tell you that he is going to get the worst part of all his wrong doings. Fortunately I have met many other nice collectors that are now my friends. That's what really counts! Greetings from Mexico. Victor

You guys should complain on the Quebec Insect Forum : forum.aeaq.ca/ Sure he will be very upset to see his pristine reputation in Quebec ruined by his behaviour with foreigners.

Hello,
I am a long time Canadian collector & if I recall correctly this guy (YPD) took over from a very reputable retired dealer many yrs. ago & has done a lot of questionable things (poor business practises), since that time, to really bring the business into disrepute. I placed my 1st & only order with YPD many yrs. ago soon after he bought the business & before he was on the internet. He sent the specimens, they were well packed, but more than half of the specimens had NO DATA at all. When I complained to him... his wife replied back to me that if I didn't like the specimens & service I should go elsewhere! The sad thing was that he sent really nice specimens (like a pricey, 100mm+, perfect A1 G. goliatus with ZERO DATA...)... after I had specifically told him, at the time I ordered & pd. for them, that DATA was very important. That killed it for me then & there & I have never done any further business with him. If you are looking for a good, reputable Canadian insect dealer check out Ken Thorne... one of the best (& honest) dealers in the business... anywhere.
