A buddy of mine bid on it in an auction and legally imported it for me from Europe.

Very nice specimen, Bill. When I post it to the Copaxa mannana page on WLSS, I notice some differences which could be within limits of natural variation, or could be just the angulation of the photo: Your female has a slightly concave outer margin while o.m. of Kirby's female is straight. The pm line is less preapical in your image and the forewing am line shows little indentation at the cubitus. There are some other less significant differences which I would normally attribute to variation within species. Maybe you have something not yet described, maybe it is as posted. Bill Oehlke

Nice female Bill. My female from Kirby looks the same as the one shown. I've seen all of Kirby's females and there are little difference's. Is the data from Texas? I heard a while back of a female caught in Southern Texas. Tough bug to get these day's. John

Thanks Shadow.....it is from Mexico, not Texas.
Bill.....maybe it's me, but it does not seem too much different from the one at your site. Certainly, it is similarly marked. I am inclined to think that any smaller differences are mere variations.

Bill,
Your moth is much more colorful than the others of that species I have seen. The ones I have seen are more uniformly tan, like A. polyphemus, with just a touch of pink and no yellow. Nice specimen!

Thanks 58chevy,
The males are tan compared to the females. My male is tannish and has no yellow. I did get lucky with her....she is ultra fresh.
