hi there,
pulled out my papered specimens that i caught in Australia a few years ago and come across this beauty of a specimen which i have a few specimens. not sure what the name is for this species. i have looked online to no results, although i know its a grass brown from the Satyrinae family.
any help would be appreciated.

It is the Swordgrass Brown, Tisiphone abeona. The ssp. could be morrisi, but the exact locality should be welcome to confirm this. It exist 6 ssp.

It was collected just out of ballina new south wales, we were heading towards the mountains for collection Macleay's swallowtails. I had a look at the pictures of the species you suggested but this specimen looks different with no yellow. Which makes me wonder if it is a ssp..

Hi Zac, it is T a morrisi , a male. They are quite variable. Subspecies morrisi and regalis are white. The southern races are orange. The race T a rawnsleyi in southern Queensland usually has no white or orange - a dark form.

Hi there, Its Tisiphone abeona ssp regalis OR morrisi,they are almost identicle accept morrisi is smaller.T.morrisi is from coastal NSW,regalis is from the mountains of southern Queensland & northern NSW,hope this is of some help. Johnsbugs.
